This week I sutured the feet of two surfers who had each cut their foot on the fins of their surf boards. I was paid with a bottle of rum.
Clare found a kissing bug which can carry Chagas disease on one of our walls in our home. Apparently, they take these bugs seriously. We had sprayed the bug to kill it and put it into a baggy. The management here took the bug, had it positively identified and tested for Chagas (it was negative) and informed the government that a kissing bug was found here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triatominae . We didn't really expect that kind of response. It seems that they had a large eradication program some years ago, and they are not supposed to be here now. Kissing bugs suck your blood, then defecate in the wound which allows the offending organism to enter one's body. Anyway, we haven't seen one before or since.
We plan on starting our trip back to the states this Monday, the 25th. We hope to reach Tegucigalpa that night. We will reactivate our tracking map. found here : https://share.delorme.com/adamsfamily

Every time we put on shoes or sit on a couch or chair or climb into bed, we check for scorpions.

We have a troop of howler monkey with about 20 individuals that have been hanging out about a quarter mile down the beach road. We have a short video of them talking to each other and Luna (and Luna talking back).
